Complicated beginning of the mountain activity, for this new year, in the main Andean centers of the Argentine Republic. Four mountaineers lost their lives in different circumstances and mountains. Here we tell you who they were, through our respectful tribute.
Claudio Leonel Marengo is the name of the mountaineer who died on Mount Aconcagua, on Monday the 10th, near the summit, in the area called "La Canaleta". This was reported by the authorities today. Marengo was a 55-year-old retired military man. He was a resident of the town of Uspallata, where he had been living for several years, along with his family.
The body was lowered today, in the first hours, from Nido de Cóndores, to Horcones, by helicopter, to later be transferred to the city of Mendoza, by land.
Marengo had started the ascent alone. In the last hours of Sunday, when he did not return from the high fields, he triggered the alert, which triggered the search, until finally, his body was located in the vicinity of "La Canaleta."

Accident in the Lanín
Last Wednesday the 5th, an accident on the Lanín volcano claimed the lives of a Uruguayan climber Raúl Falero, and a 31-year-old climber Vanina Gisel Romero from Mendoza.
Vanina was a professor at the National University of Cuyo, resident in Villa Nueva, Guaymallén, who died as a result of multiple injuries. She was rescued still alive, but she arrived without vital signs at the San Martín de Los Andes Hospital.
For his part, Raúl, was a 45-year-old Uruguayan physical education teacher, a native of Maldonado. Procedures for the repatriation of his remains are currently being carried out.
The fall occurred as a result of a fall by the guide himself, who dragged the entire rope, at a height of 3100m, over a stretch of glacier, very dangerous and slippery as a result of the rainfall.

The deceased climber in Aguja Guillaumet
Also last week, we reported on Alpinismonline about an accident suffered by a climber in his attempt to Aguja Guillaumet, which cost him his life.
It is about the german Robert Grasegger, 32, who died on Thursday the 6th, while trying the Fonrouge route of the aforementioned needle, in the Fitz Roy complex. He was climbing with two other colleagues, Tomas Holler, and Australian Ana Truntshing, who suffered trauma and is still hospitalized, and is progressing favorably.
