This was reported in a post on social media. Tomorrow the final push begins.
A few days ago we were surprised by the presence of the 86-year-old Spanish eight-thousander in Aconcagua, who is in full preparation to tackle a new eight-thousander, Manaslu, next spring.
Just a couple of months away from that goal, he has been training and acclimatising in Plaza de Mulas for a little over a week now. Now, finally, he will try to reach the summit of the Colossus of America, around the 19th of this month.
«We enjoyed our last sunset at the base camp of Aconcagua. Tomorrow morning we will leave for the mountain with the hope of attempting the summit on the 19th. The plan is to go directly to Camp II (Nido de Cóndores). We will spend two nights in this place, waiting for the wind to die down. On the 18th we will sleep in Camp III (Cólera) to try to reach the highest point of the roof of America on the 19th. As long as all expectations are met. We will soon share more images of our journey through this beautiful mountain.»
We will closely follow the publications of dear Carlos, who never ceases to surprise us.
