A mountaineer died very close to the summit of «Cerro Aconcagua», yesterday, as reported by members of the Rescue Patrol, who at the moment, is in the task of lowering the body of the unfortunate climber.
The incident occurred in «La Canaleta», less than one hundred meters below the main summit of «Coloso», and it would be a man who was climbing «alone».
«We do not have direct communication with Plaza de Mulas, yet. But the guides told us that there is a deceased near the summit, about 80 meters away from this place. It is a long task and we have already sent two members of the patrol although we still do not have confirmation of their arrival, «indicated sources from the rescue patrol through the province´s Security Ministry.
According to the versions that have emerged, he would be a retired military man, since his absence was detected in Plaza de Mulas.
This is the first Aconcagua victim after two years, since -as you will recall- during last season there was no activity due to the pandemic. In the 2019 season, there had been no deaths at Cerro Aconcagua.
