English Versión from Koreatimes.co.kr:
South Korean female alpinist Oh Eun-sun, 43, has put off her attempt to climb the 8,091-meter Annapurna peak, the last of the 14 highest in the Himalayas she is trying to scale, till next week due to bad weather, a Korean sponsor said in Seoul Saturday.
A spokesman of climbing outfit maker and her sponsor Blackyak said that Oh and five other members of the expedition scaled up to the point on 7,400 meters 10:15 a.m. Saturday (KST) from the point of 6,700 meters in seven hours and six minutes.
However, she could not advance any more at the point due to thick fog and clouds and stayed three hours there till returning down back to Camp 3 above 7,200 meters on sea level, the spokesman said.
Oh also waited another six hours at Camp 3 but had to return to the base camp 4,200 meters high at 7 p.m. as the weather does not get fine. The expedition is scheduled to arrive at the base camp Sunday morning, according to him.
«We are climbing down to the base camp due to bad weather. In view of current conditions, the weather would not improve either today or tomorrow,» the Blackyak spokesman quoted Oh from a wireless communications with the base camp as saying.
